Hmmm come to think of it you're right. It does seem a bit off, I didn't realize that before. I was looking at a small postcard to paint this, and this is what it looked like. So I'm assuming that the black parts could possibly part of the wall?...hmm yes I am not really sure about that one. Looking at it overall I don't really realize it. If i were to have emphasized that even more it could have made an interesting optical illusion
It seems to me, something is wrong with castellation in the top of picture. In fact we look at cathedral from below upwards, but a shadow on castellation - as though we look at them from above. We cannot see a shadow on horizontal surfaces of castellations. Or I am wrong? But the general impression - it's grandiose!
Beautifully executed... it is difficult to bring life to the wall and to achieve the play of shadows and textures the way you did.
