Hmmm come to think of it you're right. It does seem a bit off, I didn't realize that before. I was looking at a small postcard to paint this, and this is what it looked like. So I'm assuming that the black parts could possibly part of the wall?...hmm yes I am not really sure about that one. Looking at it overall I don't really realize it. If i were to have emphasized that even more it could have made an interesting optical illusion ;)

It seems to me, something is wrong with castellation in the top of picture. In fact we look at cathedral from below upwards, but a shadow on castellation - as though we look at them from above. We cannot see a shadow on horizontal surfaces of castellations. Or I am wrong? But the general impression - it's grandiose!:thumbsup:

Beautifully executed... it is difficult to bring life to the wall and to achieve the play of shadows and textures the way you did.
